Galaga Legions DX is the fourteenth entry in the Galaga series, published and developed by Bandai Namco Games for the Namco Generations label, released for the PlayStation 3, At June 8, 2011 Xbox Live Arcade At June 8, 2010 and Windows Phone. It's the deluxe version to Galaga Legions. This is also the last dedicated game that is on consoles. The Windows Phone was port released on March 12, 2014.

Story[]

The AEf-7 Blowneedle has been modified for 360 degree shooting. Although the Legions has been scattered they still remain in sizes large enough to cause damage. The Blowneedle will confirm missions, then go and defeat the remaining enemy fighters, From Area 1-9.

Gameplay[]

The player moves they're ship around the screen using the left stick, and fires using the right. The player hits a bumper-button to change the formation of they're Salone-Satellites. Like the previous title in the series the incoming wave of enemies is shown by a configuration of "trace-lines", pointing out how the enemies will move onto the screen. If the player selects the right satellite configuration and puts themself in the right position they can destroy that wave within a few seconds. If the player shoots a certain ship ten they can finish that wave easily. They're even a stage based on the original where an armada assembles and attacks at the upper section of the screen.

Player can also choose the appearance from Legions, Galaga, Galaxian, Gaplus, & Galaga '88.

Stages[]

Levels usually last a minute each depending on the timer, when the timer runs out all enemies will run away

Satelites[]

Like Galaga Legions, you play as the AEf-7 Blowneedle, this time, you can control the satellites by using the right stick instead of pressing the action buttons. There are 2 types of shooting modes to help players complete the stage the two are:

  • Focus Fire (Blue) - Shoot enemies directly in the same direction
  • Diffuse Fire (Red) - Shoot enemies at both directions

Notable Game Mechanics[]

  • All stages have a Galaga capture stage where the player's ship gets upgraded and fights off the previous stages over and over with a total of 99 stages
  • Stages have timers like in Pac-Man Championship Edition DX, a game also inside of the Namco Generations label, however when this timer runs out the enemies fly away and then the next stage continues

In 2010, Galaga Legions DX on the Xbox Live Arcade, significantly less than its predecessor. The game itself was received favorably, holding a 74/100 on the review aggregator website Metacritic.
